Artist Statement:

I have always been entertained by my imagination. Working in clay has allowed me to produce my daydreams into a three dimensional material. Many of my ideas come from the twilight time either before I fall asleep, or during the time when I am thinking of getting out of bed; but I’m not quite ready to leave my dream world. Some of the faces I create are influenced by an individual I have passed on the street, or in a face I have come across in a book or magazine. There is never a lack of inspiration.

The ability to manipulate the surface of my sculptures constantly brings me into a relationship with nature and its abundance of texture. I also love to play with anthropomorphic/surrealistic fantasies.

Artist Biography:

Linda has been fascinated with working in clay since high school. In the past five

Years, she has been working primarily on head sculptures .Her stoneware creations are a reflection of her imagination mixed with a splash of reality. She likes the idea of morphing two or more things together and exploring a textural relationship that makes it work. The Peruvian stirrup Head pots with their earth tone slips inspired her to use stains, glazes and acrylic washes,  to create a finish that is unique to her work.

Last year Linda created five awards for the “Women of Distinction”ceremony in Waukesha County.  She has exhibited her work in several Wisconsin galleries including Portrait Society Gallery, Anderson Art Center, and the Joyce Paddock Bliss Gallery.

Linda lives in Waukesha and enjoys creating work at Carroll University’s clay studio.
